YWCA's Mary Shada to Raise Respite Awareness Through Training

Lincoln, NE--On Saturday July 18 YWCA Respite Coordinator Mary Shada will be training members of the Lincoln community to provide respite care for people with disabilities at the Continuing Education Center.

Shada offers several training sessions throughout the year across the Southeastern region of Nebraska with the intent to raise awareness of respite care and increase the number trainees in the state willing to provide respite services.

Shada focuses on teaching the key steps of preparing, caring, and connecting to help respite providers establish trusting relationships with the care recipient and their primary caregiver. Additionally, Shada seeks to give respite providers the confidence and skills necessary once they begin working as providers.

The session will be held on July 18 at the Continuing Education Center located on the corner of 68th and O St from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The training is free and lunch will be provided.
